Yesterday was a Rainy Day…

Yesterday was a rainy day.  As quickly as I could step out the door to walk the dogs, raindrops began to hit the brim of my hat and then I noticed it rustling the leaves on the trees.  Katie looked around to see whether it was OK to go on with the walk, and I hurried her along so we could finish before getting soaked.  Jackson, as always, took his own good time and didn’t seem to notice that it was raining on him.

I’ve often thought it interesting that he and Katie are so different–he is older and creakier than she, but there are other recognizable differences in their personalities which most people spot soon after meeting them.  Katie is skittish with strangers, even to the point of growling a warning that they keep their distance when she first meets them.  Jackson, on the other hand, hasn’t ever met a stranger and he approaches with a wagging tail, expecting to be petted and maybe even to be fed a treat.  Katie is slower to accept new friends, but she eventually warms to the possibilities of new petting friends who might have a treat for her.

Today is starting out with a fully-overcast sky, 48 degrees F, with an expected high in the middle 50s.  Most of the day will be cloudy, but there is little chance of rain.  Good day for a long walk, perhaps on the beach, and some quiet reflection on the contrasting weather in Boone.  It’s snowing there, and the schools are closed.  Glad to be here!
