St. Patrick’s Day is coming…

We went to Savannah yesterday to lunch with Nancy, Fred, Phil, Geneva, and Levon and made a special trip to Forsyth Park to view the preparations for the St. Patrick’s Day bash coming up this week.  As we expected, the fountain at the north end of the park is already prepared for the big day, flowing as green as the Emerald Isle.  I’m not sure what else in the city will be green next Thursday, but maybe the proper question would be “What will not be green?”  This is supposed to be among the largest St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the country, and we have been warned that we don’t want to miss it (and also that we shouldn’t stay after dark if we go).  While we were there I took some photos of Levon; check them out by clicking on the picture of him walking around in the Family Snapshots link above.

We have a St. Patrick’s Day parade here on the Island Sunday afternoon, and I’ll be there for sure to see what it’s like.  Probably it will be small-time compared to the Savannah bash, but what do I know for comparison?  It’ll be the first and only St. Pattie’s parade I’ve ever seen, and two of these events in the same week will be sensory overload for sure!
