CNPA Annual Meeting

I’m off today to attend the Annual Meeting of the Carolinas’ Nature Photographers Association at the Hilton Charlotte University Place.  This will be my first annual meeting for this group even though I’ve been a member of CNPA for several years.

The meeting will be well-attended, with over 400 members expected to show up.  The program has piqued my interest with Jim Zuckerman as the headliner and several other knowledgeable speakers on the list.  The program begins with a printing class by Epson tonight, and I plan to take full advantage of that session since I thoroughly enjoy making my own prints.  But the real draw has to be the members’ Swap Table and the two meeting rooms full of vendors who will be there to display their wares (and give away door prizes?)!

Both Nikon and Canon will be there, with a complete line of their cameras and lenses, and Sigma is bringing a complete line of their lenses!  I’ve never seen that kind of display, and I’m really excited about the prospects of browsing it this weekend. Information will be available about a full range of nature photo workshops and lots of post-processing digital software, so naturally I’m looking forward to that.

I’ve also been reading about members’ items for sale at the Swap Table, and I have offered for sale my own close up diopter which I no longer use since I upgraded lenses.  Should be fun browsing that table, and maybe I’ll even be able to  pick up a slightly used piece of equipment at a bargain price!  I’ve never been much of a horse-trader, but I’m thinking maybe I could get into this game and have some fun.

Got to get packed and on the road!
